The fund is designed to assist with food, housing, transport, medical and other costs for workers who are suffering financial problems as a result of the strike. Even though the strike appears to be nearing its official end (which will not happen until writers ratify the contract), it will take several months for many industry workers to find work and get back on their feet and help is still greatly needed. The Writers Guild Foundation works very closely with the Actors Fund in administering the Industry Support Fund, and is grateful to the Actors Fund for lending its expertise and qualified LCSW staff to process and assess applications for assistance.
